Adult education is a vast and complex field of research. Not only because new subjects appear with new awareness and new tasks but because politics, practice, action and reflec- tion are fields in continuous evolution and mutual contamination. They require far-sighted, creative, refined, concrete theoretical thinking, which arises from practice and is nourished by it because it is in continuous dialogue and comparison with it. It is a research that shuns abstractions and theoretical principles and is fueled by the creation of knowledge useful for the formation of a collective subject. Paolo Federighi's scientific, political and institutional work is the synthesis of this and much more.
