Rigenerare i Chiassi di San Giovanni Valdarno: attraversare i giardini segreti della città murata

The contribution describes the regeneration process of the Chiassi of San Giovanni Valdarno as the founding and constituent elements of the historic city, an example of the Terre Nuove Fiorentine (New Florentine Lands) in Tuscany. The project - financed with ERDF 2021-2027 funds from the Region of Tuscany and implemented thanks to an agreement between the Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno and the Department of Architecture - has worked on several levels of intervention (renovation, redevelopment, involvement of the local community), seeking to enhance the value of the precious historical testimony of the Chiassi in an innovative way, both as an implicit project capable of responding to the instances of ecological reconversion of the city and as a process of recognition and care between the historical heritage and the local community.
