Restoration theory today appears more and more in the background of a dominant technical approach and a pressing practical necessity. On the other hand, it seems necessary for those who work in this field to clarify the foundational aspects of the discipline as a result not only of the entry of new issues such as sustainability, but also of the great confusion around foundational concepts such as those of heritage and patrimonialisation. This short essay attempts to draw attention to a possible definition of micro-restoration, with all its limitations and critical points that remain to be clarified in the discipline.
