In the early 20th century, the innovative educational methods of Maria Montessori and Alessandro Marcucci took shape in philanthropic organisations and progressive social projects such as the Umanitaria in Milan or Ernesto Nathan's municipal administration in Rome. These are models marked by a holistic conception of pedagogy and characterised by marked values in terms of dedicated design of environments and didactic materials, as well as preparatory activities for the formal and material configuration of spaces and objects; peculiarities that have long been highlighted by design historiography and are susceptible to further targeted interest and actualisation in contemporary educational scenarios.

Abstract
In the early 20th century, the innovative educational methods of Maria Montessori and Alessandro Marcucci took shape in philanthropic organisations and progressive social projects such as the Umanitaria in Milan or Ernesto Nathan's municipal administration in Rome. These are models marked by a holistic conception of pedagogy and characterised by marked values in terms of dedicated design of environments and didactic materials, as well as preparatory activities for the formal and material configuration of spaces and objects; peculiarities that have long been highlighted by design historiography and are susceptible to further targeted interest and actualisation in contemporary educational scenarios.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
