Utra magis pars sit laudabilis anni. Il motivo stagionale nelle Eclogae di Tito Strozzi.

Le tre Eclogae superstiti del ferrarese Tito Strozzi, tràdite da un testimone unico, si distinguono per il loro carattere fortemente innovativo. L’articolo mira ad analizzarne il motivo cardine, che assume una funzione unificante per i testi: i pregi e le attività rurali legate alle quattro stagioni. Le prime due egloghe sono strettamente correlate: per dirimere la disputa sulla migliore stagione dell’anno, i giovani pastori Zefirino ed Oriono si rivolgono al saggio Cronidone, il quale illustra le caratteristiche delle stagioni e le mansioni agricole e pastorizie da svolgere in ciascuna di esse. L’ultimo componimento attualizza il tema stagionale, piegandolo all’esaltazione delle bellezze della donna amata dal pastore Albico, Lida. Nel contributo si mettono in luce le fonti classiche, sia latine che greche, evidenziando anche l’apporto significativo di testi elegiaci. The three surviving Eclogae by Tito Strozzi, transmitted by a single manuscript, stand out for their highly innovative character. This article aims to analyse their main theme, which assumes a unifying function for the texts, i.e. the qualities and the rural activities of the four seasons. The first two Eclogae are closely related: in order to settle the controversy over the best season of the year, the young shepherds Zephyrinus and Orionus turn to the wise Chronidon, who explains the characteristics of all the seasons and the agricultural and pastoral tasks to be carried out in each period. The last poem renews the seasonal theme, adapting it to the celebration of the beauty of the woman loved by the shepherd Albicus, Lyda. This contribution examines the classical sources, both Latin and Greek, also taking into consideration the significant influence of elegiac texts.
