“Di giustizia orribil arte”. Tre episodi di blasfemia nella iconografia fiorentina della prima Età moderna

This article aims to study three events which, apart from space and time, share a common fact: all three episodes have to do with attacks on symbols of the Florentine Republic, specifically religious icons, and with the repressive response oriented by the justice of the “apparatus”, which passes through a peculiar recomposition and redefinition of those same violated icons. Above all, we want to verify whether the images can help us to understand some aspects of criminal justice proiected in a territorial state of the early modern age, knowing that the perception of a political-juridical experience also passes through images.
