Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) represents a cognitive decline not meeting dementia criteria, potentially serving as a precursor to dementia. Given the substantial risk of MCI progression to dementia, early diagnosis is crucial for preemptive care planning. Modifiable predictors, including cognitive reserve and the occurrence of apathy, provided insights into potential intervention strategies. Non-pharmacological treatments such as cognitive stimulation and transcranial electrical stimulation showed promise in mitigating cognitive decline. Socially Assistive Robots (SARs) presented a novel avenue for intervention, leveraging technological advancements to provide tailored cognitive and social engagement. With the global elderly population on the rise, the use of SARs in elderly care hold significant potential in addressing cognitive decline and improving quality of life. In light of these evidences, the present study proposed targeted tasks utilizing SARs to stimulate cognitive and social functioning in older adults at risk of developing cognitive decline.
