L'Italia nei romanzi di Sándor Márai: “fortificatore” (un inquisitore spagnolo a Roma)

Analisi del romanzo di Sándor Márai "il fortificatore", una delle opere dello scrittore ungherese ambientate in Italia, in un passato lontano che è presentato, come spesso accade nel romanzo storico del Novecento, come specchio della realtà contemporanea: il clima di oppressione e di controllo dell'Inquisizione a Roma alla fine del XVI secolo, viene qui utilizzato da Márai per descrivere la situazione dell'Ungheria negli anni del secondo dopoguerra. *** Analysis of the novel by Sándor Márai "Erősítő" (The Fortifier), one of the works of the Hungarian writer set in Italy, in a distant past that is presented, as often happens in the historical novel of the twentieth century, as a mirror of contemporary reality: the climate of oppression and control of the Inquisition in Rome at the end of the sixteenth century, is used here by Márai to describe the situation of Hungary in the years after the Second World War.
