This presentation takes into consideration the complex topic defined as the “Ahhiyawa Question”. The aim is to show the problematic relations between the Ahhiyawa and Hittite people and to compare their worlds through the collection of the available sources. As it will be attempted to demonstrate, the dialogue between the two parties was seemingly impossible due to their different sense of self and others perception. This is why mutual relations face-to-face have never been consolidated as in other circumstances or contexts of the Ancient Near East.

Abstract

This presentation takes into consideration the complex topic defined as the “Ahhiyawa Question”. The aim is to show the problematic relations between the Ahhiyawa and Hittite people and to compare their worlds through the collection of the available sources. As it will be attempted to demonstrate, the dialogue between the two parties was seemingly impossible due to their different sense of self and others perception. This is why mutual relations face-to-face have never been consolidated as in other circumstances or contexts of the Ancient Near East.
