As seen through the lens of Danish photographer Keld Helmer-Petersen, certain details of a small building designed by Arne Jacobsen in the 1930s lose their distinctive connotations. A clear, crystalline light contributes to this transformation into an abstract dimension. This same light can also be found in the series of watercolours that Jacobsen had been producing for his projects. This raises the question: could it be that Petersen failed to capture a specific aspect of Arne Jacobsen’s thought on film? A light that is a condition of the spirit, even before being an element of nature, an inner light that makes it possible for the composition to take shape and develop through a constant process of subtraction, of removal of all that is superfluous and of everything that “impedes the gaze”.

Abstract
As seen through the lens of Danish photographer Keld Helmer-Petersen, certain details of a small building designed by Arne Jacobsen in the 1930s lose their distinctive connotations. A clear, crystalline light contributes to this transformation into an abstract dimension. This same light can also be found in the series of watercolours that Jacobsen had been producing for his projects. This raises the question: could it be that Petersen failed to capture a specific aspect of Arne Jacobsen’s thought on film? A light that is a condition of the spirit, even before being an element of nature, an inner light that makes it possible for the composition to take shape and develop through a constant process of subtraction, of removal of all that is superfluous and of everything that “impedes the gaze”.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
