The paper analyses the literary use of the dialect in 'Capatosta', first book of the Bari writer and journalist Beppe Lopez, highlighting the relationship between the authentic witness and the use of the dialect carried out by the author through the phonetic italianization of the lexical dialectal forms and the dialectization of the Italian lexical forms.
