Si può dare un prezzo alla vita umana?

The monetary evaluation of the human life, both in explicit and implicit terms, is today accepted in different contexts as a decision tool. The paper analyses the logic underlying different methods and approaches in such evaluation, inquiring in which extent the estimated prices represent the actual value of the persons’ life. The paper argues that these values, despite useful in orienting decisions in specific, practical cases, should be never used to weight the life of persons in collective choices.
