La idea de adverbio en la historia de la gramática española y las innovaciones de Vicente Salvá

Vicente Salvá's Gramática de la Lengua Castellana según ahora se habla, due to the creation of a synchronic corpus ante litteram, represents a revolution in the linguisticgrammatical analysis of Spanish language. It is evident from his studies on the adverb that the part of speech which has traditionally posed the most definitional and classificatory problems for grammarians of different periods. Based on an empirical study of the use of the language, Salvá introduces a series of problems concerning the systematisation of the adverb and the limits with the other categories, which are really advanced for his time and, in some cases, still relevant today. In this paper we will analyse how the use of this corpus is central to the innovations proposed by the Valencian author, considering his work in relation to previous grammars and in the historical and cultural context of the time.
