The article reports on the first use of automated particle analysis to quantify textile microplastics, demonstrating minimized operator bias in microfiber quantification and improved speed and sensitivity with respect to traditional quantification methods. The study supports environmental monitoring and microplastic regulation efforts, and represents a step toward standardized microfiber monitoring protocols.
