This work describes the potential benefits that telecommunication networks based on the integration of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN) and the Internet of Remote Things (IoRT) paradigm can bring to the development of smart agriculture. All the possible interventions and actions enabled by the synergetic use of these technologies are then described by analyzing the technological aspects and challenges that concern their deployment in rural areas for smart agriculture.
