Loading effects are critical in the operation of a reverberation chamber (RC), particularly for immunity testing where a specified electric field test level should be generated by using a given amount of available power. We here provide quantitative evaluations of the loading effect produced by objects typically present inside a RC during testing, such as polystyrene supports, wood supports, wood antenna tripod, microwave absorbers and a medium size equipment under test (EUT). Loading effects are evaluated considering typical standard requirements, such as those specified by the ISO 11452-11 standard for immunity of automotive components.

Abstract

Loading effects are critical in the operation of a reverberation chamber (RC), particularly for immunity testing where a specified electric field test level should be generated by using a given amount of available power. We here provide quantitative evaluations of the loading effect produced by objects typically present inside a RC during testing, such as polystyrene supports, wood supports, wood antenna tripod, microwave absorbers and a medium size equipment under test (EUT). Loading effects are evaluated considering typical standard requirements, such as those specified by the ISO 11452-11 standard for immunity of automotive components.
