In this study the results of an investigation aimed at reducing the ringing affecting the waveform of the contact current discharge of electrostatic discharge (ESD) generators are presented. Experimental and simulation results confirm that a suitable layout of the return cable and the insertion of an appropriate ferrite along the return where this is connected to the reference ground plane can effectively reduce ringing.

Abstract
