INTEGRATED SOCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR REFUGEES: GOVERNANCE DYNAMICS IN TUSCANY’S RECEPTION AND INTEGRATION SYSTEM PROJECTS

The article examines social assistance practices for refugees and asylum seekers in Italy, focusing on the Tuscan reception model. Drawing on interviews with SAI project coordinators and institutional documents, the study highlights territorial differences in service provision, local governance models, and the central role of social workers in coordinating interventions among public institutions, local communities, and third-sector organizations. It discusses structural challenges, examples of good practice, and innovative strategies to strengthen collaboration among local actors.
