El ferrocarril Poggibonsi-Colle val d’Elsa: análisis histórico y socioeconómico de una línea secundaria italiana

This contribution arises from the lack, in today's Italian literature, of academic studies on the secondary railways of the peninsula, especially as regards the economic and social aspects that these brought to the territories where they stood. We will analyze the case study of the first Tuscan secondary railway built after the enactment of the Baccarini law of 1879. By reconstructing its history and its traffic, we aim to analyze the impact on a social level and on an economic level that its creation had on the territory of Colle Val d'Elsa, as well as the consequences deriving from the threats of closure and the effective suppression of the same at the end of the 1980s.
