In the first years of the 21st century, Claudio Parmiggiani was invited by the University of Iceland to design a lighthouse in an inland area near Reykjavik. The result was a striking and symbolic structure that stands like a beacon amid the island’s desolate and primordial landscape. The monument is an imposing iron monolith, a true and proper sculptural architecture with a telescopic shape and a circular base. The structure of the lighthouse gradually tapers upwards, and culminates in a light that is perpetually lit: a silent signal that becomes a timeless symbol of guidance and presence.

Abstract
In the first years of the 21st century, Claudio Parmiggiani was invited by the University of Iceland to design a lighthouse in an inland area near Reykjavik. The result was a striking and symbolic structure that stands like a beacon amid the island’s desolate and primordial landscape. The monument is an imposing iron monolith, a true and proper sculptural architecture with a telescopic shape and a circular base. The structure of the lighthouse gradually tapers upwards, and culminates in a light that is perpetually lit: a silent signal that becomes a timeless symbol of guidance and presence.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
