The patent concerns an innovative screening device designed to produce calibrated fine wood chips (“micro-chips”) suitable for use in pellet boilers and stoves. The device processes raw chipped wood, typically derived from forest residues or low-quality timber, and separates it into fractions according to particle size. It consists of one or more screening sections with channels and grids, which guide the material along a controlled path. Through the combined effect of gravity, vibration and calibrated openings, the device removes oversized pieces and fines, while selecting a narrow, uniform size class of wood chips. Oversized particles can be recirculated for further comminution. By stabilising the particle size distribution, the device improves the flowability of the fuel in feeding systems and ensures more regular and efficient combustion in pellet appliances originally designed for standardized fuels. This contributes to higher energy efficiency, reduced unburned residues and potentially lower emissions of particulates and other pollutants. Overall, the invention supports the energetic valorisation of woody biomass, enabling the use of local forest resources and residues in small-scale heating systems, while meeting the technical requirements of modern pellet boilers and stoves.

Abstract
Overall, the invention supports the energetic valorisation of woody biomass, enabling the use of local forest resources and residues in small-scale heating systems, while meeting the technical requirements of modern pellet boilers and stoves.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
