The home-studios designed as their own personal abodes by the Chilean-Argentinean couple Pezo von Ellrichshausen are a fulfilled expression of their marked aptitude for theoresis, which is nourished by their interest in philosophy as their writings clearly show. CIEN and LUNA Houses — a tower and a courtyard — spring from a sophisticated geometric precision that leads to simple planimetric and volumetric schemes based on pure forms. This precision however welcomes the solicitations coming from the context and, above all, is associated with a distancing from the discipline's canon, which results in the introduction of a 'corruption' principle that liberates and enlivens the original completeness. The result is an architecture devoted to the co-presence of multiple and contradictory aspects, the ground of a coincidentia oppositorum transferred to design.
