The article examines the Strozzi Chapel in Sant’Andrea della Valle, Rome, attributing for the first time its design to Gio-vanni Battista Caccini (1556–1613) and Lodovico Cardi, known as Cigoli (1559–1613). Through a comparison with contemporary Florentine works and documentation from the Carte Strozziane, the authors reconstruct the chapel’s design and construction process, emphasizing the “state” Michelangelism that linked Florence and Rome in the early seventeenth century. Particular attention is devo-ted to the innovative use of polychrome marbles and bronze, ele-ments that make the chapel a unique example within the Roman context. The essay offers an integrated interpretation combining archival sources, material analysis, and stylistic comparison.
