This article deals with the role of Ramón Gómez de la Serna (1888-1963) in criminal flash fiction. After an introduction on the writer’s contribution to Spanish flash fiction and the role of criminality in it in the first half of the 20th century, some of the flash fictions collected in his Disparates y otros caprichos (2005) will be analysed, showing how in these texts the theme of death is strictly related to the typical motifs of crime fiction that often undergo a humoristic, satirical and fantastic treatment.
