The OCT Art Centre in Zibo, Shandong Province, designed by Studio Zhu Pei, is part of the long tradition of Chinese shan-shui landscape painting, and engages in a profound dialogue with the material and historical-cultural context from which it originates. The interplay between the overall layout and the shape of the roofs gives rise to a complex set of porous spaces, suspended between interior and exterior, and in a constant interaction with each other. It is an architecture in which the very fabric of the building becomes an opportunity to preserve, as well as to further develop, firmly established know-how and building practices.

Abstract
The OCT Art Centre in Zibo, Shandong Province, designed by Studio Zhu Pei, is part of the long tradition of Chinese shan-shui landscape painting, and engages in a profound dialogue with the material and historical-cultural context from which it originates. The interplay between the overall layout and the shape of the roofs gives rise to a complex set of porous spaces, suspended between interior and exterior, and in a constant interaction with each other. It is an architecture in which the very fabric of the building becomes an opportunity to preserve, as well as to further develop, firmly established know-how and building practices.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
