LÚ.MEŠ SIMUG.A and URU Arinna: workplace or working group?

The present paper aims to provide new considerations on a particular Hittite smiths’ category, i.e., those hinged on local cities and their metallurgy, from a philological point of view in Late Bronze Age Anatolia. Although the issue about who they were and what they did is far from being completely resolved, this article considers the group of Hittite smiths labelled as “(those) of/from the city of Arinna” and their possible tasks and duties, trying to figure out the features of this guild.
