Il «Morgante» dalle parole ai fatti

This article investigates the connections between certain rhetorical and stylistic phenomena in the Morgante and certain processes of narrative invention characteristic of Luigi Pulci, reflecting on their implications for a new commentary on the poem. It examines the external and internal intertextuality of the work, analysing cases in which the reworking of the Orlando interacts with the assimilation of Andrea da Barberino’s romanzi or with ambiguous re-semantisations of Dante’s verses, in synergy with the 15th-century tradition of playful verse and Lorenzo’s rhymes. It also explores the frequency and relevance of realised metaphors and similar forms of enactment of rhetorical figures, which prove to be a distinctive feature of Pulci’s creativity, especially in the most original parts of the poem, in contact with Morgante and Margutte. It also revises the punctuation and interpretation of the stanza in bisticci ‘La casa cosa parea’ (XXIII 47). Questo articolo indaga i nessi tra alcuni fenomeni retorico-stilististici del Morgante e alcuni processi di invenzione narrativa caratteristici di Luigi Pulci, riflettendo sulle loro implicazioni per un nuovo commento al poema. Si esamina l’intertestualità esterna e interna dell'opera, analizzando casi in cui il rifacimento dell’Orlando interagisce con l’assimilazione dei romanzi di Andrea da Barberino o con la risemantizzazione equivoca di versi danteschi, in sinergia con la tradizione giocosa del Quattrocento e le rime di Lorenzo. Si esplora inoltre la frequenza e rilevanza delle metafore realizzate e altre forme di messa in atto di figure retoriche, che si rivelano un procedimento distintivo della creatività di Pulci, soprattutto nelle zone più originali del poema, a contatto con Morgante e Margutte. Si ritocca anche l’interpunzione e l’interpretazione dell’ottava in bisticci “La casa cosa parea” (XXIII 47).
