The paper analyzed the particular case of slope instability in Montepulciano, a historical town with many important buildings and artistic works. Historical analysis, the study of the urban network, as well as geomorphological and geotechnical investigations, have allowed us to identify the characteristics of the instability phenomena and to asses the remedial measures, which would, at the same time, enhance the itineraries fo visitors.
