Introduction: Obstetric violence is a phenomenon of growing interest on a global scale, and its contrasts represent a fundamental problem for bioethics. As I said, bioethics has shown a substantial lack of interest in this phenomenon. Objectives: To reflect on the reasons that would dispel this lack of interest in bioethics and stimulate a broader debate on this topic. Methodology: Analysis of the state of the art in the field of obstetric violence and theoretical-methodological reflection on the possible contribution that bioethics can make, at a theoretical and practical level, to combating this phenomenon. Results: An everyday bioethical perspective cannot consider the problem of obstetric violence only as an epidemiological problem. Rather, it represents an urgent issue of social justice, a primary dimension for a bioethics that aims at “taking action”. Conclusion: The training of health professionals is essential to combat obstetric violence. In this context, it is necessary to: 1) promote greater sensitivity in the educational field to this issue; 2) reorient their practices towards routine medical practice; 3) adopt practical measures to help reduce the vulnerability of women in the obstetric, gynecological and neonatal fields; 4) adopt measures that ensure the targeting of women without discrimination on the basis of phenotypic or other social or economic factors.
