The camellia variety named ‘Bella di Pescia’ is protected by a breeder’s right granted by the CPVO under the name ‘UNIFI58/2’ (Breeder's reference: 58/2). It is a reflowering interspecific hybrid obtained from the crossbreeding of C. japonica ‘Rosea simplex’ (seed parent) and C. azalea (pollen parent) within a crossbreeding program conducted in cooperation between the University of Florence (Florence, Italy) and the Nursery ‘Massimiliano Giusti’ (Montecarlo, Lucca, Italy). The crossbreeding was carried out in February 2014, and the sowing was in October of the same year. The seedling flowered for the first time in September 2017 and was subsequently propagated by cuttings. It is also marketed under the European Union word mark ‘CAMELI’, along with other reflowering hybrid varieties developed in the same crossbreeding program.
