Il socialismo liberale nell’itinerario teorico e politico di Norberto Bobbio

This essay aims to reconstruct Norberto Bobbio’s reflections on liberal socialism, taking into account the trajectory and evolution of his philosophical and political approach. Firstly, it focuses on the role played in his thought by the concepts of justice, freedom and equality, which took shape in the 1930s and 1940s, before considering Bobbio’s option for a politics of culture that led him to establish a close dialogue with the Italian communists and, more generally, a confrontation with the varied Marxist approach. In both cases, more or less intentionally, Bobbio’s liberal-socialist horizon emerges. Finally, starting from some of Bobbio’s reflections in the 1980s and 1990s, the virtues and critical issues of the inexhaustible liberal-socialist tradition and its possible reactivation for the future are highlighted.
