The increase in university dropout rates highlights the need to rethink the entire educational pathway through more active and experiential approaches. Drawing on constructivist theories and evidence on active learning, this research identifies laboratory-based learning as a key strategy to enhance motivation and conceptual understanding. The original contribution lies in applying design thinking to the co-design of didactic and technological kits for laboratory contexts, developed through a design-based research approach focused on early prototyping. These kits, conceived as interactive and adaptable platforms, integrate artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality to support personalized and immersive learning experiences. The overall aim is to prevent dropout by fostering innovative, student-centered orientation and educational practices.
