The aim of this article is to show how the dispute between Einaudi and Dossetti’s followers on the economic policy of reconstruction highlights the existence of two distinct traditions of thought, liberal and Catholic, which, in the post-war period, by allying themselves, contributed to the foundation of the Republic.
