Classici greci tra Bisanzio e l’Italia

Il contributo esamina alcuni aspetti della trasmissione dei testi greci tra Bisanzio e l’Italia rinascimentale attraverso l’analisi di manoscritti conservati in biblioteche italiane e delle testimonianze materiali che ne documentano la circolazione e l’uso. Lo studio prende in considerazione pratiche di copia, annotazione e correzione dei codici, soffermandosi sui rapporti tra erudizione bizantina, filologia umanistica e formazione delle raccolte librarie tra XV e XVI secolo. L’analisi dei marginalia, delle sottoscrizioni e delle diverse mani scrittorie consente di ricostruire modalità di lettura e di studio dei classici greci, nonché le reti di trasmissione che collegavano copisti, lettori, insegnanti e collezionisti tra Oriente e Occidente. Particolare attenzione è dedicata alla storia materiale dei manoscritti e alle trasformazioni subite dai codici nel corso della loro conservazione e circolazione. Il saggio affronta inoltre il ruolo svolto dalle biblioteche umanistiche e dagli studi promossi nell’ambito del Comitato Classici nella ricostruzione della tradizione manoscritta greca e della storia culturale del libro tra età bizantina e Rinascimento. The contribution examines aspects of the transmission of Greek texts between Byzantium and Renaissance Italy through the analysis of manuscripts preserved in Italian libraries and of the material evidence documenting their circulation and use. The study considers practices of copying, annotation, and correction, focusing on the relationship between Byzantine scholarship, humanistic philology, and the formation of book collections between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The analysis of marginalia, subscriptions, and scribal hands makes it possible to reconstruct reading and scholarly practices connected with Greek classical texts, as well as the networks linking copyists, readers, teachers, and collectors between East and West. Particular attention is devoted to the material history of manuscripts and to the transformations undergone by codices during their circulation and preservation. The essay also addresses the role played by humanistic libraries and by the studies promoted within the Comitato Classici in reconstructing the Greek manuscript tradition and the cultural history of the book between the Byzantine period and the Renaissance.
