Ingegneria Industriale, the first volume of the series Ingegneria Industriale ed Ingegneria dell’Informazione per il territorio fiorentino, provides a comprehensive reconstruction of the history and development of the Department of Industrial Engineering (DIEF) at the University of Florence, set within the Tuscan, national, and international scientific and industrial context. From the origins of engineering education to the establishment of DIEF in 2013, the volume highlights key figures, institutional changes, and industry links. It also presents research lines, laboratories, national and European projects—including PNRR—and teaching and third-mission activities, portraying a multidisciplinary, innovative, and forward-looking department.
