La riconfigurazione digitale delle “Terre del Ghiberti”. Due casi studio: i castelli di Altomena e Ristonchi | The digital reconfiguration of ‘The lands of Ghiberti’. Two case studies: the castles of Altomena and Ristonchi

The castles of Altomena and Ristonchi constitute two fortified settlements particularly suited to revealing the fourteenth-century character of the lands that gave birth to Lorenzo Ghiberti, where the slow, but unstoppable, decline of early medieval feudalism, represented by the powerful Guidi family, gave way to the rise of a wealthy and enterprising urban bourgeoisie. The master was a privileged observer, able to grasp and crystallize this change in the language of art. The university project bearing his name aims to bring to light this obliterated landscape through contemporary methods of documentation, analysis, and digital dissemination. A new narrative for this landscape will be provided within the upcoming Interpretation Centre of the lower Valdisieve.
