La conservazione del Giardino Scotto di Pisa nell’interazione con il suo intorno

The Giardino Scotto in Pisa, set up in the 19th century inside the ancient ‘Fortezza Nuova’, designed by Giuliano da Sangallo. In the early decades of the twentieth century it was transformed into a public garden with a series of interventions that gave it its current configuration. The areas outside the garden were only partially included in the urban development of the city of Pisa. In particular, the Fossato area still presents criticalities that degrade the urban environment. The Florentine Charters for the restoration of historic gardens give great importance to the link that the historic garden has with its surroundings. In the proposed article the strengths and weaknesses of this monument will be analysed in relation to the indications of safeguarding and enhancement given in the Florentine Charters.
