Il castrum di Collodi. Conoscenza e restauro di un borgo medievale

Collodi is a town, consisting mainly of two parts, the ancient village perched on the hill and a settlement in the valley. In the late 1950s on valley was created the Pinocchio Park, which together with the Villa Garzoni and the historic Garzoni Garden, make it a center of international fame. It is visited by tourists and students as well as for the historical and artistic interest of its monuments also for cultural activities promoted by the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi. The ancient castle of which we have certain information only from the twelfth century, still retains many of its characteristics of medieval village. The safeguard and the valorization of the village can be realized through a careful study and an in-depth analysis of the building that characterizes its typical elements. The contribution will illustrate the first results of the comparison between geometric data obtained through the survey of road fronts and historical documentation. The analysis made it possible to identify the transformations that occurred in the modern era and to identify the distinctive characteristics that have been preserved.
