Solidarity Networks across Southern Europe: Transnational Trade Union Campaigns for Political Prisoners

This article explores the campaigns in support of political prisoners jointly developed by Italian, Spanish, Greek and Portuguese trade unions from the early 1960s to the mid-1970s. Drawing on extensive multi-archival research, it analyses the objectives and practices of transnational trade union activism, highlighting how the principle of international workers’ solidarity was reinterpreted and translated into concrete action.
