The first normal thiocyanate of silicon, (Me3Si) 2C(SiMe2OMe)(SiMe2SCN) has been prepared from (Me3Si)2C(SiMe2OMe)(SiMe2Cl) and AgSCN; it is much more readily solvolysed than its isomer (Me 3Si)2C(SiMe2OMe)(SiMe2NCS).
