The problem of estimating the availability of complex electro-mechanic systems that rely on time variant parameters is becoming an important task for industries which supply long term service agreements. Currently, most customers and some authors [1,2] are interested in determining the optimal maintenance policy for a particular item or for the whole plant before purchasing it. Classic Markov models do not take into account the degradation of components or scheduled as well as unscheduled maintenance actions, thus providing an uncompleted life and availability model. This work aims to develop a link between several models with time varying failure rate.

Abstract

The problem of estimating the availability of complex electro-mechanic systems that rely on time variant parameters is becoming an important task for industries which supply long term service agreements. Currently, most customers and some authors [1,2] are interested in determining the optimal maintenance policy for a particular item or for the whole plant before purchasing it. Classic Markov models do not take into account the degradation of components or scheduled as well as unscheduled maintenance actions, thus providing an uncompleted life and availability model. This work aims to develop a link between several models with time varying failure rate.
