The main aim of the project funded by the Regional Government of Emilia Romagna was to improve housing systems and waste management in dairy farms in order to obtain a better welfare and hygiene of cows and to reduce costs and environmental impact of dairy farms. An approach of the project was to compare hygienic conditions of cows housed with different loose housing systems used in dairy farms of Emilia Romagna Region.
