IL LAVORO LINGUISTICO DI GASTONE VENTURELLI

This article is concerned with methods and contents of Gastone Venturelli’s linguistic publications. Even if his dialectological work is based on the traditional concepts of the geolinguistic research, the capillary investigation of a narrow area gives rise to a special result, i.e. a kind of philology of the dialectal area and the linguistic variation. In fact this approach, recalling the researches of Gauchat and Rousselot, leads to a genuine experiment on the dialectal variation, where the role of the informant is crucial. In the treatment of the traditional texts Venturelli pays a systematic attention both to the dialectal (lexical, morphological and phonetic) features and to the specific character of every single version, i.e. this one actually uttered by the speaker in a determined time. These characteristics outline an original philological arrangement which in particular is different from the usual anthropological approaches
