In this paper an overview of the progress and developments in research regarding seismic response of plan irregular structures is presented. Two areas of research are monitored: the first one is the study of effects of plan-irregularity by means of single-storey and multi-storey building models; the second area encompasses passive control as a strategy to mitigate torsional effect, by means of base isolation and other types of device.

Abstract

In this paper an overview of the progress and developments in research regarding seismic response of plan irregular structures is presented. Two areas of research are monitored: the first one is the study of effects of plan-irregularity by means of single-storey and multi-storey building models; the second area encompasses passive control as a strategy to mitigate torsional effect, by means of base isolation and other types of device.
