Abstract

We first study a mathematical model describing diffusion of the oxygen that is supplied to a sample of living tissue by blood flowing in a capillary. Hence, through a homogenization procedure, we model blood perfusion of a muscle by microcirculation as a diffusion-consumption problem in a continuum possessing suitably averaged properties.
