An experimental study was carried out on masonry beams reinforced with composite materials and subjected to four points bending tests. Though the masonry beam is a not real structural element, its simple behaviour can highlight clearly the effects of strengthening. Models of brick and lime-cement mortar beams with two types of composite material were tested: one with carbon fibers in a polymeric matrix (CFRP); the other composed of glass fibers in a cement matrix (GFRCM). Two consolidation layouts were tested: one consists in a sheet of strengthening placed on the intrados, the other consists of a sheet of strengthening placed on the intrados and in two sheets of strengthening placed on the sides. Significant results were obtained through the comparison of mechanical responses consequent to cladding either with polymeric or with cement matrices. Values of experimental collapse loads were compared against analytical results derived from models of RC structures.

Abstract
Values of experimental collapse loads were compared against analytical results derived from models of RC structures.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
