Abstract

Quantitative FTA is proposed as a reliability technique useful to analyse the university system. More specifically, in this case, planning FTA must be conditioned to the peculiarities of the university situation, different from an engineering system. The main feature to be dealt with, is the construction of the complex university system and only at a second step it will be possible the calculation of FTA. In this paper, given the initial status of this research, methodological aspects and problems tied to the specific case are discussed. In addition, a numerical example is applied on 2 cohorts of students (1990-91) of Florence University, Course in Economics and Business Administration.
