Tell Suffane is one of the the few sites of the plain of Tell Afis (Idlib, Syria north-west) which furnishes materials from the Late Chalcolithic to the Early Bronze and MBI-II. Noteworthy are the presence of sherds dating to EB I-II, rarely documented in the region and the rich assemblage of EBIVA-B, which includes two impressions on jars. Pottery from the transitional EB/MB, better known at Tell Afis, from MB I, and an early Syro-Cappadocian linear style seal, indicate a continuous occupation of this site between the end of 3rd and the beginning of 2nd millennium BC; it was probably in the course of MB I, as other sites indicate as well, that the region experienced a substantial growth of settlements also in the lower part of the plain, so favorable to agriculture.

Abstract
File | Dimensione | Formato | |
