The evaluation of natural resources by means of agrometeorological and agroclimatological analysis is a fundamental step in the optimisation of agronomic and cultural decisions, as well as for the improvement of viticultural production. With such a perspective, the thermal pattern and the bioclimatic characteristic were analysed inside a viticultural hilly area with a limited extension (about 120 ha). The area is located in the region of Chianti Colli Fiorentini, where Sangiovese variety is predominant. Air temperature was monitored by installing a weather station network. Phenological observations were performed to determine the main development phases of grapevine and must was analysed during ripening period of plants. A preliminary climatological analysis showed the high temperature variability in the studied area and the strong influence of topographical parameters. Then, the phenological development of grapevine was studied and several bioclimatic indexes were tested for phenophase simulation and forecast. Finally, the relationships between thermal patterns and quality components of berries were analysed with the aim of explaining the main variability factors.

Then, the phenological development of grapevine was studied and several bioclimatic indexes were tested for phenophase simulation and forecast.
