Under the impulse of globalizing process and the spreading and worsening of conflicts and repressive fundamentalist politics, the economic and social gap between EU and least developed countries in the Mediterranean areas has grown wider. In this context the politics for protection and conservation of the natural environment devised in recent years have proved to be unrealistic and inadequate.
